UN70 Peace and Sustainable Development Youth


Programme celebrates the 70th anniversary of
the establishment of the United Nations. The
Programme strives to deepen the understanding
of UNESCOs core mission, global peace and
sustainable development, among local and
overseas youths.

Objectives To construct platforms that support community-


based activities facilitating intercultural discussion
among local and international youth about Global
Peace & Sustainable Development.
To impart knowledge and skills for sustainably
developing our economy, society, environment
and culture.
To encourage our youth to reflect how peace
contributes to the sustainable development of the
world.
To cultivate youth positive values and attitudes and
train them to be responsible citizens.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of


the establishment of the United Nations.
UNESCO Hong Kong Association is
organizing a series of activities to spread the
message of peace in the local community.

The range of activities cover concert, variety show,


education programmes and competitions, exhibitions,
international forum and the annual Peacemakers'
Celebration.

This is the 4th year UNESCO Hong Kong Association


presents the Youth Programme. The theme for this year is to
promote UN70, Peace and Sustainable Development.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyones


effort and support in enabling this Programme to happen.
We very much hope participants will take the initiative
to act as proactive contributors for a more peaceful and
sustainable world.

Welcome you all to the celebration of the


70th Anniversary of the establishment of
the United Nations this year. UNESCO
Hong Kong Association also celebrates the
5th Anniversary by the end of 2015. Thank
you for joining us in the UN70 Peace and Sustainable
Development Youth Programme. It has been a great
pleasure and an honour to the Association to launch this
programme with everyones power nurturing peace in our
communities.

Confronted by the challenges of degrading environment


since Industrial Revolution, it is important for us to underpin
international and local partnerships to advocate peace. The
success of this programme would only be possible with all
of us working together. I wish to extend my sincere thanks
to all of you and look forward to your success in fulfilling
your duty to act for peace.

education programmes that promote UN70, peace and sustainable

UNESCO HK and the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra join force to


promote peace through the enjoyment of music, and to inspire
the community to become the driving force behind the vision of
a united and sustainable community.

The celebration kicks start the 2015-16 UN70 Peace & Sustainable
Development Youth Programme with a concert A Paean To
Peace performed by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra on 18
September 2015 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall.

The Commission on Youth


The Commission on Youth (CoY) is a non-statutory advisory body,
comprising members from a wide spectrum of the society who
care about youth development and are directly engaged in youth
work, as well as representatives from Government departments.
The CoY consolidates community efforts to assist in formulating
and implementing youth development programmes and activities
and nurturing young people as future leaders with vision, creativity,
leadership and commitment.
The CoY advises the Government on matters pertaining to youth,
as well as organizing, or co-organising with other groups, various
activities to facilitate youth development. The CoY also initiates
research on matters pertaining to youth and provides information
to the Government and Youth service organizations. In addition,
the CoY offers international exchange opportunities to Hong Kong
youths, sponsors study tours and exchange programmes to the
Mainland for Hong Kong youths through Community Participation
Scheme for Organising Study Tours to the Mainland, and sponsors
qualified local organizations or groups to organize large-scale
youth programmes in Hong Kong through the Large-scale Youth
Programme Funding Scheme.
