8 Behaviours Considered Rude Around the World

1. Be careful with your laugh

In some Asian countries such as China and Japan, it is considered to be rude to show your
teeth while you smile or laugh with your mouth open. Women usually put their hands
covering their teeth when they laugh. In Japan, they think that it sounds like horses, and is
considered impolite.

2. Yes and no
If you are planning to visit the Balkans (Bulgaria, Albany, or Macedonia), you should pay
attention when you answer to a question. They say yes shaking their hear (moving it to the
right and to the left); and they say no nodding (moving it up and down).

3. Blowing your nose

In China, Saudi Arabia, France, Turkey and Japan blowing your nose in
public is considered very gross.

4. Accepting presents
In Japan and China you have to say no a couple of times when receiving a gift and accept in
the end.

You should also know that in most Asian countries, it is good manners not to open a present
until the person has left and isnt looking.

5. Eating your food

You cant eat all of your food if you are a dinner guest in China, Philippines, Thailand and
Russia because that means the person didnt give you enough food.

In France, Italy, Spain and Japan, if you ask for additional spices (salt, pepper), you have
just insulted the person who prepared your food.

6. Beach
In South Korea, it is forbidden for men to go topless on a beach.

7. The time
In Germany being late, even a few minutes, is considered a serious insult. While in Argentina
its good to be a bit late because it shows that you are not impatient.

8. Giving tips
In Japan and South Korea, tipping is considered insulting. They consider that if you give
someone extra money it is because theyre not doing their job well enough so you are paying
them more to be better.
