Engine Overrunning Causes & Solutions

1. The engine was experiencing overrunning caused by a lack of oil film on metal bearings. This led to cavitation on bearing surfaces. 2. Analysis of the oil filter and oil showed many metal particles present, indicating metal-on-metal contact from insufficient lubrication. 3. It is suspected that repeated engine overrunning from improper operation reduced the oil film and caused metal wear, leading to further loss of lubrication. Improper maintenance like long oil change intervals also contributed.
