Dear Mr McDonald
Summerhill site — ex Summerhill Academy
I refer to your email received 13 August 2017 regarding your concems about security
of the site. | can advise proposals for new housing for the site are continuing to be
taken forward and Planning Permission is expected to be granted shortly.
A start on site by Shaping Aberdeen Housing LLP is expected later in August /
September 2017. Shaping Aberdeen Housing LLP is a joint venture between
Aberdeen City Council and Places for People Homes Ltd and the project includes the
construction of 369 flats for mid-market rent primarily for key workers
Since demolition of the school, the site has been surrounded by temporary fencing to
prevent unauthorised access to the site. However despite ongoing efforts to keep
the site secure, there has been a history of the fence panels being forcibly separated
at certain locations thus allowing access to the site.
Any reports of breaches in security or other issues regarding the site would be
brought to the attention of the Senior Land and Development Manager, Tim Bailey.
However, there haven't been any reports of security issues in the past year to us.
Following a site visit made on 9" August 2017 instructions were issued on 10"
August 2017 to have the existing perimeter fencing checked and re-secured as a
matter of urgency. | am assured that this work has now been completed. Once
construction work starts on site, the existing fencing will be checked and reinforced.
‘Thereafter the contractors will check the fencing and site security on a daily basis.
The large earth mound to which you refer consists of crushed material from the
demolition which has been tested and assessed as being suitable for using under the
new roads and parking areas within the new housing development.
BERNADETTE MARJORAM
INTERIM DIRECTORInitial work on site will make use of this material and the mound of material will begin
to diminish, Also, as the site will then be classified as a construction site, enhanced
‘security measures will be in place.
! trust this clarifies the situation to your satisfaction however please contact Tim
Bailey should you require further assistance (contact details above).
Yours sincerely
DB Sfagessy
