For the first Problem

First we must decribe our axis- The way I'm going to describe my free body diagram
is; the two forces F1 and F2 are 30 degrees apart, so I let F1 be at -15 degrees
and F2 be at 15 degrees off Y axis and let the hook be our Origin at (0,0)
here is a pic of the Free Body Diagram:

1. we must find the x and y components of each force, and we must add the
components respectivley
2. we will use the pythagorean R=sqrt(x^2+y^2) to find the resultant vectors
magnitude
3. we will use trigonometry tan(a)=y/x or (a)=arctan(y/x) to find the direction (a)
angle of the resultant vector.

Step 1.

F1= 150 N
F2= 220 N

F1y=150cos15=144.9 N
F2y=220cos(-15)= 212.5 N
Fy Total = 357.4 N

F1x=150sin15= 38.8 N
F2x=220sin(-15)= -5.7 N
Fx total= 33.1 N

Step 2

Find Resultant Magnitude

R=sqrt(x^2+y^2)
R=sqrt(33.1^2+357.4^2)=358.5 N

Step 3

Find Resultant Angle (Direction)

(a)=arctan(y/x)
(a)=arctan(357.4/33.1)= 84 degrees

Therefore Resultant Mag= 358.5 N @ 84 degrees from x axis
