This sample is my best piece because I received the highest grade possible on an

assignment in a college-level course. My teacher gave me an excellent review, and I received a

grade of 100% on the assignment. In this work, the reader should expect to find evidence of why

standardized testing is not as beneficial as it is meant to be. The reader should also expect to find

counter-arguments to why standardized testing is not beneficial, as well as historical evidence of

how it came to be that way. By reading this piece, the reader should gain an impression that I am

dedicated to logical, fair arguments backed up by fact. They should also gather that I hope to

argue for what is right, in order to help make a change that benefits the situation. Finally, I hope

the reader gains an impression that I am a dedicated learner who will break down evidence to

find hidden meanings and draw conclusions. By completing this assignment, I learned about the

history of standardized testing and what it is meant to achieve. I also learned that sometimes the

purpose of a system is not achieved, and in these cases the system should not continue to be

implemented, but rather research should be done and the system should be changed in order to

better achieve its original purpose. Finally, I learned how to use many different types of sources

to gain a wide variety of knowledge and research, and I learned how to put that information into

a systematic format such as APA. This knowledge will be extremely useful for when I am in

situations in which I am implementing some sort of new product, system, or strategy and the

purpose is not achieved. I will be able to use my knowledge gained in the experience of writing

this paper to know that, rather than ignoring the problem and continuing to run the system as

designed, I should make changes until it begins to achieve the purpose it was designed for. I will

also use my new experience in APA formatting to write organized papers in college and future

careers, since at least some of my future professors or employers will most likely require that

type of formatting.
