At the heart of Community Rights US (CRUS) is the understanding that We the People are the
ultimate authority. However, We the People have mostly forgotten that when business
corporations harm us, it is our constitutional right and our responsibility to end those practices.
Since 1999, 200 communities in eight states have passed legally groundbreaking and locally-
enforceable Community Rights ordinances (local laws) that do three extraordinary things:

ban specific harmful (but legal) corporate activities

strip corporations of their so-called constitutional rights
enshrine a communitys right to protect the health and welfare of its local residents

CRUS is a dedicated network of individuals and organizations

working with communities to pass locally-enforceable and
legally binding laws (ordinances) that protect people and
nature from harmful corporate activities. Together, we are
remembering our Right Relationship with businesses and
government.

This is a bold first step towards answering the questions:

Who are We the People?

And how should we organize ourselves to reclaim our
power and authority, protecting what matters most to all
of us - clear air and water, safe food, a healthy
economy, living wages, and the right to thrive?
