DEVELOPING STEPS

for B&W Film (Kodak TMax 400)

For a 20 ounce tank (with two reels, even if one is empty):

* Prepare chemicals in four measuring cups:

In cup #1:
Mix 4 ounces of developer into 16 ounces of water at 68 degrees (the dilution is 1:4 adjust if
using a different size tank)
In cup #2:
Pour 20 ounces of stop bath (from darkroom)
In cup #3:
Mix 5 ounces of fixer into 15 ounces of water at 68 degrees (the dilution is 1:3). (Since you can
reuse the fixer, you can mix a larger bath of fixer and keep it in a light-tight labeled jug.)
In cup #4:
Pour 20 ounces of perm wash (from darkroom)

* Load your film onto reels in the light-tight room in complete darkness.

1) DEVELOPER pour your mixed developer solution into your tank. As soon as you start
pouring, start your timer for 7 minutes. Agitate for the first 30 seconds, then for 5 seconds every
30 seconds until your 7 minutes is complete. (pour your used developer into the drain)

2) STOP BATH pour your stop bath into your solution, and agitate gently and consistently
for 2 minutes. (pour your used stop bath into the drain)

3) FIXER pour your fixer solution into your tank. As soon as you start pouring, start your
timer for 5 minutes. Agitate the first 30 seconds, then for 5 seconds every 30 seconds until your
5 minutes is complete.

4) Wash continuous running water for 2 minutes (68 degrees, pour out/change at least once
during wash)

5) PERMA WASH agitate for 2 minutes. (pour your used perma wash down drain)

6) Wash continuous running water for 8-10 minutes (68 degrees, change several times
during wash)

7) PHOTO FLO open tank and fill with water, enough to cover film. Add 1-2 drops of photo
flo and agitate gently for 30 seconds. (pour down drain)

8) Dry squeegee film with two fingers from top to bottom of your film. Hang to dry (use a
clothes pin to hang at top, and another clothes pin to weight the bottom). When completely dry
(15 - 45 minutes), cut into strips of 5 images each and place in negative sleeves.
