Goals/Questions: Research details about Glorious Revolution

Notes:
- James II was the king
- He had a Catholic son
- People in that time didnt want Catholic King
- William III and Mary (James daughter) are a married couple
- Mary was offered to overthrone her dad since she is protestant
- James II escaped to be under Louis XIVs protection

Reflection:
- We researched details of the glorious revolution. We understand the brief history of the revolution as we
realized that there are more details than we thought. I did as much as I could to understand the concept
and it turned out to be okay. As I know what happened, I could now think little bit about the plot.
- Mints research was very detailed I couldnt catch up on her. I would do my best on what I could, but if I
missed on something, I would ask Mint for the summary of that. If I have time, I would also research
more on those later.

Goals/Questions: Finalize Research

Notes:
- John Locke
- Philosopher + Physician
- Was the one who created the idea of Lockeanism
- Wrote Two Treatises of Government'
- Agreed to the event of Glorious Revolution

- Lockeanism
- (Used the notes from the class)

- Hobbesianism & Jean-Jacques Rousseau

- (Used the notes from the class)

- Colonization
- To take over the nearby places and have control over that place

References:

Reflection:
- On some part of the research, I asked my teammates to help me understand about what each things are.
There are still things that I dont really understand such as colonization, but I will try to research about it
a little bit more.

30 Aug

Goals/Questions:
- Start the storys plot

Notes:
- Discussion about the introduction
- Named the original characters in the story and gave them roles
- We will start off planning the intro first so that we know what story to put in in the rest of the
book
- The intro will start off telling the setting of the story.
- Mention the problem in the time
- Introduces the protagonist

References:
- None

Reflection:
- This is the part where I enjoy the most. It is because this is where my imagination could be expressed the
most. We planned on the brief plot of the story already and it sounded good to go.

1 Sept

Goals/Questions: Finish the Introduction chapter

Notes:
- Summary of what we did in the introduction
- We set the tone of the story
- We put in some characteristics of each character appeared in the intro
- Added the part that showed the one of the goals at the end of the chapter: Desperate for
Protestant king

References:
- None

Reflection:
- The introduction mentioned the protagonist, but we didnt include his name Farmwelle yet. I was the
one who wrote the upper half of the intro and Mint wrote the rest. I tried to use the phrases and style of
writing from the novel The Serpent King since the authors style of writing is easy to understand.
- We also helped research about the medieval age nobles job and taverns existence in that time. Mint was
the one who found the information.

4 Sept (Meeting at Central)

Goals/Questions:
- Brainstorm about the first chapter and the second chapter

Notes:
- The first chapter will talk mainly all about the problem that would affect the protagonist and the people
in England
- Relate the protagonist to someone that took part of the revolution for the first time
- Show how they overthrown the king w/o violence
- (might add some conflict between protagonist)
- The last chapter will solve every problem in the story we mentioned in the first chapter. The problem
might start to be solved in the middle of the chapter.
- Mention the consequences of the revolution at the end of the chapter.
- (might mention other countries that also get the effect of this revolution)

References:
- The essential information researched in the first part.

Reflection:
- Since we planned to meet at the Central plaza Pinklao, we had more time to talk about this. We start
planning the first and the last chapter accordingly to the information we have to tell. The plans are listed
in the note section above. We arent sure with some part whether we should put in or not, but we will
decide again while writing those chapters.
- Moreover, Ingtawan said that she will be designing on the books cover, both front and back. We ended
up the idea of the front cover with the theme of Old Buildings.
- At last, we did have the chance to do a little bit of chapter 1

5 Sept

Goals/Questions: Start the first chapter

Notes:
- Start the first chapter with the conversation between the nobleman and the knight about the problems
now.
- Give them what happened in the history. After that, make the soldier explain the problem happening
- Decided to add the scene where the protagonist talks with his wife to show how close they are
- We used the researched information from the first day of researching into use

References:
- http://www.usgennet.org/usa/topic/preservation/geo/europe/page25.htm

Reflection:
- The first chapter was designed by Mint and the wordings are helped by the rest of the member. She had
the protagonist meeting with his friend who was going to tell him about the letter that James II received.
All of the other detailed things about the revolution were mentioned too.

9 Sept

Goals/Questions: Finish the first chapter

Notes:
- Continued the work from the last time
- Used the info from the first day of researching
- Showed the r elationship between Macaronna and Rosa; talks about Macaronnas 2nd year anniversary
with her husband.

References:
- None

Reflection:
- This chapter showed the relationship between the protagonists and how they thought about the
government in the time. We express the thoughts of the people in that era by using Macaronna as an
example of what other people thinks. This should work because she is a merchant that has the same level
of education as other people.
- The chapter couldnt end yet, the chapter are missing the main point of the story; how James II think and
more. Well have to extend the date of finishing the chapter.

10 Sept

Goals/Questions: Finish the first chapter

Notes:
- Combining facts (that Mint found) together with a little bit of fantasy
- Put in the part of William III reading the letter he received
- We know that James IIs daughter, Mary, was forced to marry with William III
- Added the part where the King could express the feeling he had when he heard about Williams
invasion
- The word used for calling the king is His Majesty

References:

Reflection:
- Mint was very detailed with the novel; she researched details about minor things of the story. I couldnt
find the reference for these minor details she put in.
- At first, we designed the novel to have only 15 pages since it seems like an average amount of work we
could finish, but we ended up writing a lot more than expected. This means we needed to add pages to
the novel.
12 Sept

Goals/Questions: Start the last chapter

Notes:
- Started to mention about the planning of the war between James II and William III
- Viewed t he king James perspective of the war; what he thought.
- Added the fact that even Churchill, the most trusted person in that time, betrayed James.

References:
-

Reflection:
- The information about how the king feel or think about the situation made this chapter looked more
interesting, in my opinion. Adding a characters perspective enhance, not only just the imagination of the
reader but also makes the information not too boring to remember. I should use these kind of detail in the
future writing as well.

15 Sept

Goals/Questions: Continue on the last chapter

Notes:
- Added the fact that everyone left James side
- Concluded the war up; James fled

References:
-

Reflection:
- After this part (war part), we decided to make it all fiction. This is for making the reader understand the
consequences from the event.

18 Sept

Goals/Questions: Add the conclusion of the last chapter

Notes:
- We added the story of when Farmwelle and Maccaronnas marriage to make the story not too
educational.
- I learnt that the marriage in that time was also similar to in the current times too. They had exchanging
rings

References:

Reflection:
- The story wouldnt end well if the novel is all about history content. We decided to extend this a little bit
longer. We might have to spend more time on this to conclude it better.

19 Sept

Goals/Questions: Finish the last chapter

Notes:
- About the lightning strike, we chose the direct strike to make it easier to set up the setting.
- The last p art of the novel shows the concequences of the Glorious Revolution. It also contain some in
class content such as John Locke and Thomas Hobbes.

References:
- Researched information on the few first day of project

Reflection:
- The last chapter could reflect the things that Glorious revolution left behind. It made many impacts on
the community such as the book Two Treatises of Government was written as a support to the
revolution.

21 Sept

Goals/Questions: Finalize the writing + Check mistakes

Notes:
- Throughout the novel, we chose to tell the story by writing in a similar way with Jeff Zeniner, the author
of The Serpent King. We edit every part of the story to use some style that could be easily understood.
- We helped and check the grammar of every sentence in the whole novel to make it as less error as
possible.

References:
- The Serpent King

Reflection:
- This novel was really inspired by The Serpent King because the authors style of writing caught my
attention more than the story itself. As we write the novel, we did found our own style of writing. For
me, I loved how telling details of each part could be this fun and I think I would be able to use it in the
future.
