Analysis according to the symblepharon severity also disclosed that different surgical approaches

could be taken for various grades (Table 2). For grade I symblepharon where the residual and
recessed conjunctiva was sufficient to cover the entire palpebral surface, fornix reconstruction could
be achieved by cicatrix lysis and AMT alone (Figure 2, Left) because they achieved an overall success
in 14 eyes (92.8%) (Figure 3, Top and Middle rows). For grade II symblepharon where the residual
and recessed conjunctiva was sufficient to cover the tarsal surface but not the entire palpebral
surface, cicatrix lysis and AMT also achieved an overall success of six eyes (100%).
