SCL Reflection Paper:
We blame society, but we are societyInstead of helping on another, we, the people
tend to bring each other down. Before, I look to social media for words of encouragement &
smiles. I still do, but not without seeing other things. Nowadays, all I see is people posting
negative things online, bashing other people they dont even know personally, & criticizing their
flaws. What has become of our society? Its not everyone, I know. But still, I feel responsible for
the things that my brothers & sisters in Christ are engaging themselves into. I am deeply
saddened with the fact that we are more concerned with destructive criticisms rather than
empowering each other to be better. I refuse to believe that humanity has lost its hope for
salvation. I remembered Daddy Obet Cabrillas said in one of his many talks in Feast Manila,
about Bo Sanchezs perception of people, A friend of Bro. Bo once told him something. Bakit
daw sobrang daming masamang tao sa mundo. Pero you know what he said? He said, hindi bro
mas marami ang mabubuting tao sa mundo. And that statement is what I hold on to. Its not
that society cant change. Its that I have to be the change. Im just one person of the Earth, but if
I can make a difference somehow, in some ways I may not know yet, I will do because I am
society. I represent society, & I represent God. I am likened by His image & likeness. I am
Gods beloved. I am Gods powerful champion.there is a world out there that seeks for
goodness & I intend to bring it to them. It doesnt hurt to practice random acts of kindness
each & every day for the rest of my life, & I have been doing so since I encountered that term
years ago. Sometimes, it hurts to give & to help. But a smile, a thank you, & in some cases
even a tear of joy from a complete stranger beats that small sacrifice. And although the society
does not see how good he/she is, the Lord knows & He is always there. Who else would help us
if not ourselves? The change that we are looking for is hidden in us. The change doesnt come
from just one person, but it comes from each person & will only be realized if held from within.
In every step of the way, God will guide His people towards salvation, but it is up to us to decide
whether to walk through His path, hand in hand, or to stop & further reflect on our actions
without actions. I give you a new commandment. Love one another, as I have loved you. This
is how they will know that you are My disciples.the Lord tells us to love. Hes telling us that
the only way to follow Him is to love each other.
