Step 1 : Install GNS3, Virtual box.

Step 2 : Extract Files in GNS3 IOU VM.

Step 3 : Open Network and Sharing center, make sure the loop back adapter "Virtual box host only
adapter" has the IP address 192.168.56.1/24

Step 4 : Double click on GNS3 IOU VM.vbox inside GNS3 IOU VM folder

Step 5 : The IOU VM will be imported to Virtual box.

Make sure to have the settings as depicted below.

Base memory approx 3 GB - 4 GB

Step 6 : Run the VM.

Make a note of the IP address displayed on screen.

Step 7 : Launch GNS3

Open Edit ---> Preferences.

GNS3 servers

Add the IP address with port 8000 in remote servers with the IP that was present in VM

Next go to IOU on Unix

Point the IOURC.txt which is inside among the extracted files, map it here.
Step 8 : Browse to "http://192.168.56.101:8000/upload" or whatever IP address that was displayed
when VM was initialized in step 6.

Step 9:

Choose file and upload the 2 image files

Step 10 :

Go back to GNS3 Under IOS Unix, IOU devices ----> Click new

Choose server type remote, the server IP address, Click next.

Step 11 : Identifying router/switch images.

Under name, enter IOU, image location (can be found in image page browsed via webpage earlier,
screenshot below) Image type L2 for switch and L3 for router.

Switch (/home/gns3/GNS3/images/i86bi_linux_l2-ipbasek9-ms.may8-2013-
team_track) for Router (/home/gns3/GNS3/images/i86bi_linux-adventerprisek9-
ms.152-4.M1) click finish to complete the import. Do the same for Router, and in
image type choose L3.

Step 12 : Close all the windows and choose other devices in GNS3,drag and drop
Switch/ router which we added to workspace.
Step 13 : Drag and drop as many routers switches needed and connect them through add link button
and connect the devices.

Finally press the start button to run the devices.

Once bootedup right click on the device and click console to access the device.
