After an incident with a misbehaving student in class, I asked my mentor about the steps to

be taken to handle this behaviour. My mentor noted that in their own classes they would keep in
contact over email with the parents of his students. They would introduce themselves to parents at
the beginning of the year to begin dialogue with them. Whenever there was an incident of
misbehaviour or a concern for their learning they would contact the parents immediately. In the
emails they would talk about what the behaviour or issue is and what actions could be done by the
parent or child to rectify the solution. My mentor made note to never talk about the student
themselves, rather their actions, and to always offer a solution. They would also keep a record of the
materials they would give to differentiate the class as well as the results of the students. This way
they would have evidence of their attempts at helping the student and the parent would not have a
reason to distrust the teachers advice.
