Lesson idea implementation: This lesson will take a week. We will start by watching All About Bald Eagles for
Kids. Then as a group we will brain storm what we saw and heard. We will also check out the Berry College
Eagle Cam to observe the eagles. This eagle cam will be on throughout the writing time during this week long
activity. The next day we will read The Bald Eagle by Elaine Landau and add any additional facts to our chart
we started yesterday. On the third day the students in small groups will have time to research on their own
using books and websites. On the fourth day (again in small groups) we will create our concept maps about
bald eagles that we will use to write about our research. On the fifth day the students in small groups will
write and illustrate there research paper. These will be posted in the hallway and on the classroom blog.
