X @®RMIT UNIVERSITY School of Education Professional Engagement Standard 6: Engage in professional learning (e.g. awareness of the ways teachers engage with profession; capacity to contribute to professional learning communities including school and professional teaching bodies; respond to feedback from teacher mentor and others; teamwork; collaboration with others) Assessment of Competency 3 I Zz T 3 I 2 I T een] Throughout the placement, Peter attended Whole School Curriculum Days, Curriculum Area Team meetings, College Meetings and Year Level Wellbeing meetings. In the time that he was here, Peter contributed to the LOTE Curriculum Team, participated in discussions and worked collaboratively with other team members. Peter also has a wide network of Indonesian contacts outside the school setting, which he made strategic use of in his planning. He identified his own professional learning needs within the classroom and sought out teachers from other subject, ‘areas to observe and learn from. He even had the opportunity to work with the Senior VCE Indonesian classes and assist them in conversation practice. The entire time he was at Williamstown High School, | was thoroughly impressed with his receptiveness and his attitude to becoming the best teacher he could be. Standard 7: Engage professionally with colleagues, parent/carers and the community (e.g. professional behaviour and ethical conduct; knowledge of policies; teaching duties and expectations; rapport with colleagues and parent/carers) Assessment of Competency f 3 I Poet 3 I 2 I 1 I NA] Peter developed a good rapport with colleagues, particularly those within the LOTE Curriculum Team. Whilst he did not have the chance to communicate with any parents, his behaviour was professional amongst other staff members. In his short time at Williamstown High School, Peter also gained knowledge of our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework and ‘was able to uphold these values and expectations in the classroom. Once in a position of full-time ‘employment, Peter should remain punctual in attendance and take as many opportunities as he ‘can to get involved in extra-curricular activities such as camps, sports days and excursions.
