Modes/types

In my opinion, I think that benefits street


follows the expository mode. There is a
strong representation of actuality being
shown throughout the documentary and the
narrator links the events and stories being
told.

I also think that benefits street represents


the observational mode as well because what
we see looks very spontaneous and
unplanned like the police taking Danny under
arrest. There seems to be no manipulation
from the subjects of the documentary too.

The fly on the wall type of documentary is


being used in benefits street as the camera
follows the subjects around in their everyday
life. We occasionally see the camera screw in
reflections and in the shots too.
