Compensation as a concept according to (Bernadin, 2007) refers to all forms of financial returns

and tangible benefits that employee receives as part of employment relationship. Compensation

as it were is divided into two parts and these are cash compensation which is the direct pay

provided by employer for work performed by the employee and fringe compensation which

refers to employee benefit programs. Coming up with these forms are made by both parties ,

which entails that both must cooperate in order to have a working environment.

Employees typically depend on wages, salaries, and so forth to provide a large share of their

income and on benefits to provide income and health security. For, employers compensation

decision influence their cost of running the university, thus balancing both interest is a process of

communication and implementation . In the following discussion, we briefly identified the

changes of the compensation and benefits of Notre Dame University , in reference with the

Labor Code of the Philippines and other compensation and benefits manual of differing

universities.
