Probe Evolution
As a world leader in phased array (PA) probe manufacturing, Olympus NDT has once again
proved its superior applications knowledge with the introduction of the all new PA Weld
Probe Series. Addressing multiple improvement opportunities, this new series will raise our
best selling A1 and A2 probes to a new level. Every aspect of the probes has been exam-
ined and optimized for more inspection possibilities and a better ergonomic design. The
smaller housing and wedge footprint allow closer access to the feature being inspected for
a better beam coverage. The improved ergonomics make the probe more comfortable to
hold during manual inspections. Because automated inspections are becoming more and
more important, the cable exit has been optimized in order to reduce any conflict with
holders once a probe is mounted on a scanner.

IHC RING
An optional IHC ring is now of-
fered on all A10, A11, and A12
probes. This removable ring is
attached to the wedge when
automated inspection is desired.

The optimized wedge design of the new
Weld Probe Series allows the user to
get closer to the weld. For some appli-
cations, this provides the ability to fire
directly on the defect instead of using
multiple skips before reaching the heat
affected zone.

tional IHC ring.
