I dont think that this is a violation of our protected privacy rights. For one, this is a
requirement by the majority of employers, no matter what kind of job you are trying to get.
Secondly, if this is a requirement by the board and it is not a request that is out of the normal
scope for employment, it doesnt seem unreasonable. If they were asking, sexual preference or
perhaps your religion for example, then I can see where you might have an issue with protected
privacy rights.

I think it is the teachers legal obligation to take this issue above the principle, if the
teacher feels as if the child is in an sort of danger. Just because the principle feels as if the
parents are prominent citizens in the community dont mean that they are not capable of
committing child abuse. If anything were to happen to that child and its been noted that the
teacher had suspicion about abuse in the household, not only would that be a question about
morality but also legality and whether or not a teacher should have acted.
