General details for ICS Exam registration:

There would 2 exams in a year (academic year) vide November and May

The November exam would be conducted only at Chennai and Mumbai centres.

May exam would be conducted in 6 locations via, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Vizag, Mangalore and
Delhi.

Enrolment (Registration) for November exam and May exams can be done simultaneously starting from
01.08.17 to 03.04.18

Pls try and enroll before 12.09.17 to avail the discounted rate of exam fee.

If you register from 13.09.17 till 03.04.18, you have to pay the non- discounted rate per subject which is
much higher than the discounted fee.

Payment can be done through cheque in favour of : The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers or through
NEFT. No cash payment and dishonored cheque application will not be processed for the examination.

For Foundation Diploma:


2 subjects should be taken for exam and both the subjects should be passed at one sitting.
1.Introudction to Shipping (compulsory subject) 2(any one subject from Group B)

For Advanced Diploma:


2 subjects should be taken for exam and both the subjects should be passed at one sitting.
1.Shipping Business(compulsory subject) 2(any one subject from Group B)

For PQE:
Examination subjects:7
4 compulsory subjects from Group A and the remaining 3 subjects either from Group B or Group C
These subjects can be written as one shot( one sitting) or on piecemeal basis. It means you can take up
one exam also in one sitting. Maximum given period for completion of this exam is 5 years.

Exemption Procedures:
1 paper exempted (Introduction to Shipping) for Master Mariners (reduced from 3 papers to 1 paper
since Nov 15)
Marine Engineers/Seamen can avail the exemption of Introduction to Shipping Business subject by
providing valid CoC/CDC alongwith passport.
Employees from the Shipping Industry having 2 years of service can avail the exemption of Introduction
to Shipping subject by providing Service Certificate from the employer
