Amur Leopard
Leopards are mammals. Amur leopards live in the temperate forests of eastern Russia and in the
mountains . Due to habitat loss and poaching, the Amur leopard is critically endangeredonly 30
individuals are thought to exist. The Amur leopard is poached largely for its beautiful, spotted fur.
Human induced fires are a main threat to the survival of the Amur leopard. They live for 10-15 years,
and in captivity up to 20 years. The Amur leopard is important ecologically, economically and
culturally. Leopard is solitary. WWF works with local communities, regional authorities, government
and other non-governmental organizations to save the Amur leopard and ensure the long-term
conservation of the region.
