Reflection paper of the musical The Crossing

The relevance of Father Urios in students today is through students are able to
have the best education within Caraga Region. Father Urios has become one of the
significant person through his visions, personality and advocacy at early times of Butuan.
Students in Caraga are fortunate to have Father Urios who cross miles and miles just to
be here and share his learnings. And he was able to establish a school that is now one
of the top schools in Caraga. Without Father Urios who started it, I as an Urian I am so
thankful for Father Urios for his bravery in crossing the river.
There are issues being shown during the play. One of that was the illegal logging
here in Agusan, long years before Agusan was known for logging and it is one of the
biggest industry. Because of these business transactions this cause calamities that
affects everyone. Though it helps a lot of people but at the other side of it causes disaster
which is the flood. Another issue being emphasized was He evangelized the natives,
founded towns along the Agusan River and its tributaries. Father Urios came here
because to share his visions and learnings towards the native people. Just to civilize the
native people Father Urios has the spirit to come even though the way through here is
kind of difficult. Also, Father Saturnino Urios was also a peacemaker, ending tribal slavery
and warfare, and negotiating peace between the Americans and the resisting peoples of
Mindanao.

As an Urian, I can continue the mission that Father Urios started is through the
core values that is being taught to us. With the application of these values Ill inspire
others to have these values as well. Being involve in the society. An Urian should be
confidently beautiful with heart and have the right values.
