JVM Switch

Prerequisites

1.
a) Check if already SAPJVM is already installed (by verifying the instance profile with
any parameter like jstartup/vm/home = $(DIR_SAPJVM) and DIR_SAPJVM = $
(DIR_EXECUTABLE)$(DIR_SEP)sapjvm_4). If that is the case then no action is
required to be done for this WO.

b) Check /sapmnt/<SID> should have at least 2GB of free space and make sure the
location JVM software is stored and where sapinst log is stored have enough space to
hold.

2) Send mail to backup team on beforehand to trigger backup on the host where JVM
switch is scheduled. Make sure the RFC has WO raised against the backup team for so,if
the WO for backup team is not in place raise a fresh WO.
Get confirmation from Backup team regarding the filesystem backup of /usr/sap, /sapmnt
and /home/<sid>adm directories and their sub directories.

3) Start VNC Server Session in remote desktop

4. a) Create a folder for JVM software (having around 1-2 GB free space).

b) Transfer the JVM SWITCH related software (jce_policy-1_4_2.zip,


SAPJVMSWITCH00P_20-20008141.SAR and SAPJVM4_38-10009692.SAR) to your
respective servers in the created directory using sftp or scp from mxoccsapccd01
(ccdadm/pass1234) from the location /SAPINST/JVM and its sub folders.

c) Create a sub directory inside that folder for storing sapinst temporary files. Set
TMPDIR environment variable to point to that directory.

5) Move unwanted profile files out of the profile directory


6) Run sapinst with nogui option

7) Get the sapinstgui.exe from desktop of

8) Run sapinstgui.exe and give ID

9) Enter the hostname and port 21212
