Why Are People Be Attracted to the Seventh Day Adventist Denomination?

First what did Jesus Christ say should be the attractions of Christianity? What did the Apostle Paul
indicate about such? Didn’t Jesus Christ say “the world will know you are My disciples by your love for
one another”? Romans 14:17 says that “the Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy
Spirit. And Jesus Christ said that if we love Him, we would obey His commandments and His other
teachings. And the love He was talking about is the unselfish agapè love that we can only receive from
God when we are right with Him; it is not the usually selfish philèo and eros loves that either just happen
or we produce. Did you ever wonder what kind of Christians would be appreciated by victims of a
tragedy, the religious ones or the unselfish compassionate ones? True Christians should be like the Moon
reflecting the Sun’s light, reflecting Jesus Christ (instead of selves) to others. But many professing
Christians are selfish humanists usually with a serious “I” problem. And remember Satan had and has a
serious pride and boasting problem. In your life, who were the individuals in the churches you attended
you liked the most? Why did you decide to be a member in churches?
Why was I finally attracted to the Seventh Day Adventist Denomination? On July 16, 1999 after I
read "The Marked Bible" book's tenth chapter, I decided to keep the Sabbath and seek out a church that
did. When I walked in the door of the church I chose, I was given a church directory by an elderly lady
who had a big sincere smile and immediately after had a friendly greeting from the sign language lady
who suggested I go to the Pastor’s class. Others also had sincere smiles indicating joy. The s Pastor’s
class just happened to be having a discussion about the Sabbath in the Pastor's Class (one of 27 chapters
of the SDA doctrines book they were using). I was given the just indicated hardbound book and I was
allowed to share some of the above indicated testimony’s details with a short summary of my spiritual
growth. It was appreciated. The following service was boring and I only remember that the elder who
preached quoted Ellen White a lot. But the fellowship in Sabbath lunch was wonderful, even though the
choir leader asked some spiritual questions to test me. I was invited my several to stay for the discussion
group that followed. That was about 2 hours of more wonderful spiritual communicating. So most of the
day was non-superficial and non-religious. Later a friend and I were given this by the Holy Spirit:
R -- ritual
E -- earnestness for superficiality
L -- legalistic
I -- ignorant of a lot of what is God-pleasing
G -- going on with un-Biblical tradition
I -- “I” problem especially in pride and selfishness
O -- obnoxious
N -- nasty, hypocritical, and condemnatory like the Pharisees of old
In that day and most of my times in Seventh Day Adventist church Sabbath days and Wednesday
meetings, there was much less of such that the anagram indicates than any of the other denomination and
independent churches I had been in. I saw much of Jesus Christ being reflected. Later I saw more of
such in the 3ABN reports about SDA churches, ministries, and SDA ASI business people. As I was
writing this, I sort of heard a message (via Hope Channel) by a good actor who played Jesus Christ in the
recent movie titled “the Messiah”. He said that he had been raised in a Christian home and Christian
schools and so he knew a lot of the Bible. But it wasn’t until doing the just mentioned movie that he
really developed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He said he was no preacher, but he certainly
reflected Jesus Christ even when he was exhorting. Ellen White said that only 1 or 20 Seventh Day
Adventist church goers appeared to be true disciples of Jesus Christ. But such might be true in all of the
other kinds of churches I have been to. But I think that the Seventh Day Adventists denomination has
more individuals and ministries that are reflecting the compassion of Jesus Christ. What do we need to do
more of and less of?
But I don’t like the arrogance of the SDA preachers who defend the Good Friday tradition, the
Sunday Law theory, and the Sanctuary doctrine. And also I don’t like how many SDAers think that all of
Ellen White’s writings are perfect and Biblical, and that those who don’t worship on Sundays are
doomed. Also, SDA pastors ignored my pleas for help in my marriage in Germany and later my need to
return to the USA quickly. And the other SDAers I knew in Germany were just “fair weather” friends.
True Christians should be Proverbs 17:17 friends. I will continue to promote the latter because of what
Jesus Christ said in John 13:34-35.
