I. Title: Addressing Learners Individual Needs

I. Concept: As a teacher, you must be willing to learn about students abilities and

disabilities. You must learn about your students as individuals. Understanding how a

students interests, questions, and problems will change throughout their educational

development will help you better serve them. At first glance, this will seem like a

challenging task. However challenging it is, it is also as much of a reward.

II. Standards Addressed:

A. Students will gain knowledge and understanding of addressing their students

individual needs;

B. How their needs change as they develop;

C. How intelligences vary student to student;

D. How students vary in ability and disability;

E. What special education and inclusion are; and

F. How they can teach all learners in their inclusive classroom.

III. Objectives:

A. Students will:

1. Learn four different theories of development

2. Define Intelligence, Identify Gardners Theory of Multiple Intelligences,

and understand learning styles

3. Develop an understanding of abilities and disabilities

4. Compare and contrast special education and inclusion

5. Identify the three key areas that will help them teach all learners in an

inclusive classroom.
