What type of Documentary are we doing? The type of documentary we will be doing is performative, we are doing it in this style because it allows us to capture the pure and raw emotion of the interviewee as well as enabling us to have more of a human touch as instead of having a voice of god documentary we will be filming Jordan as he asks the hard questions in a similar style to that of Louis Theroux in order to get a good reaction from the interviewee without them walking off and refusing to do the interview. It also enables Jordan to talk to the camera before and after the interview so that we can introduce the topic and then cover what we learnt Whats the Topic? The topic that will explore throughout the length of our documentary will revolve around the stigma surrounding Britains current generation of young people and why they are the so called cotton wool generation. Meaning that because the youth is so protected they are easily offended to the extreme. Finding out whether this judgement is fair or completely false will be the main feature of the documentary. In terms of interviewing people of interest to hear from their point-of-view and hopefully see where they are coming from when they are easily offended by something (this will be backed up by the primary research we conducted) Infographic Why do we want to do this? The documentary's topic is "Britain's Affronted Youth". The reasoning behind this choice of topic is due to the ever-increasing amount of people who are actively destroying the 'freedom of speech' we have within the United Kingdom. There are a few topics that are generally no-gos when it comes to being humorous publicly: Racism. Suicide. Sexism. But this default and short list of controversial topics seems to be ever-increasing. we want to find out why people get so offended, even when its over things that dont directly concern them. This is more than just individual people being sensitive as time goes on, we, as a generation are getting more and more easily offended by simple comments made by one another. A fair portion of things said that are opinion-based on social media are deemed derogatory in some way. Being offended is one thing, but publicly shaming individuals for their opinion is too far; this is why this topic is so relevant for a documentary. Many Comedians have been noticed to make offensive jokes more often now than in 2010. Some of those comedians include; Chelsea Handler, Louis C.K, Andrew Dice Clay, Lisa Lampanelli, Ari Shaffir, David Cross, Chris Morris, Tracey Morgan, Daniel Tosh, Michael Richards, Sarah Silverman, Jon Stewart, Frankie Boyle and Paul Mooney. Lots of these comedians were all offensive in the early 2000s, however were not challenged until 2015- 2017 Who will we interview? We will be Interviewing Andre Martin and Annabel Streete. We will do this because these are two people I know very well who can get offended very easily. Annabel is a Feminist who can get very angry at me if I say something even slightly misogynistic. Andre also gets very angry at me if I say jokes (that arent at all offensive) so I know he would be a very entertaining guest to interview about some controversial topics. The reaction we will want to get out of them is to piss them off slightly to get there true reasoning and feeling behind the rage and to also get to the root of why its so easy to get offended by the littlest of things in this generation. Overall these two are guests who will make the audience get engaged with our Documentary and will get us the reactions we need to portray our points.
