WORCESTER STATE WOMENS LACROSSE TEAMS

SEASON OF REDEMPTION

Swish. The ball found its way to the back of the net. One goal out of the whole 270 that the
Worcester state womens lacrosse team accumulated during its 2015 spring season. Usually, that
swish is followed by roaring cheers but in this case; scattered applause. Womens Lacrosse
should hear more than just scattered applause and a few fans. As a member of the Worcester
State community give the team what they have earned Saturday, March 5 at 1:00 pm on the John
Coughlin turf field for its first game of the 2016 season.
The Worcester State Womens lacrosse team came up big last season and made it all the way to
the semifinals of the MASCAC championship against Westfield State.
It was really heartbreaking to end the season so close to the final, says junior attack Alaina
Martin, but I know that we have been working hard and I couldnt be more excited to see what
we have to offer this season.
Not only did the team make it to the semi-finals, but it was one that kept the crowd on the edge
of their seats throughout the entire game.
I remember that the game was really back and forth the whole time, theyd score, and then wed
score, Martin recalls, wed go to celebrate and then theyd get one right back it was really
intense.
That intensity has yet to leave the team. Whether it be during their practices, team dinners, or
lifting sessions- the need to win never leaves the teams focus.
They will take this intensity with them throughout the whole season, beginning on March 5 for
their home opener against Eastern Connecticut.
I am ready for this new season, and am hoping that this will be the one that we finally end with
the trophy in our hands, Martin concludes.
