Weekly Deliverable

Dear Luddite Principal,

I wanted to share with you reasons why educational technology is undeniably important
in our schoolhouse. First, I feel it is imperative to designate what we consider educational
technology. The mere use of technology in the classroom does not mean we are successfully
implementing educational technology. Our implementation must be purposeful and
meaningful. The tools, techniques, and processes that we use must enhance teaching practices
while improving students academic achievement.

Educational technology benefits both teachers and students. It helps to create a learner-
centered environment in which teachers can differentiate instruction to reach their many
different learners. It fosters collaboration among peers and colleagues and allows for specific
and timely feedback easily. Educational technology provides an abundance of resources and
primary sources at the fingertips of its users. It gives the opportunity to use a variety of tools to
present knowledge and multiple perspectives.

In todays society, people are looking for instant gratification. Educational technology
can help to provide this in the classroom. It fosters interest and engagement among students
and encourages responsibility and independence. For teachers, it can make the daunting task of
paperwork seem less overwhelming, aid with planning data-driven instruction, make formative
assessment quick and meaningful, and help implement effective small group instruction.

I know that you are passionate about providing the students at our school with
opportunities for choice and preparing them to be competitive members of society beyond
school. The implementation of educational technology within our schoolhouse will undoubtedly
help us to achieve these goals. Lets do this together!

Sincerely,

Kaleigh Braverman
