Alliteration is the repetition of initial consonant sounds in two or more neighbouring words or syllables.

This phenomenon is used as a literary technique, especially in art and literature but also in more commercial
areas of language such as marketing and brand names; e.g. Dunkin Donuts, Coca Cola, Kit Kat etc.
Alliteration is often used in idiomatic expressions, often, but not always, to express a comparison of some
kind; e.g. Have you been sunbathing? You are as brown as a berry.
