Unit Paper 4
I believe that play is a very important part of a childs growth and it opens up a creative

side in them. Students show how creative they could be by playing games and figuring things

out through play through what they do. With play, they are using their head and they are active.

With play as a learning style, it creates a managerial effectiveness, emotional intelligence, and

thinking style characteristics of the brain (Pink, 2006, p. 188). Students are active and they start

thinking differently and come up with different ideas in the classroom. Although play style of

learning is controversial throughout different schools, I believe it is best when they play because

they do things that are active and most likely do activities they would enjoy. Students are

demonstrating ways to come up with ideas through play and the classroom setting becomes more

enjoyable by the students.

Students should experience play with learning due to how much they can learn in the

classroom. Their brain will be functioning due to how much activity is going on and they will be

able to do. Learning isnt about memorizing isolated facts. Its about connecting and

manipulating them (Pink, 2006, p. 193). As teachers, we want to see the children grow and

connect with each others. Doing projects or assignments in groups would be helpful and they

can work together to create different styles of learning and ideas in a classroom. Teachers can do

activities outdoors or use different techniques that would make the lesson fun and the students

can grasp the concept easily. Teachers should teach students how to be unique and accept that

play is a great way for teaching.
