The life of our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal was truly remarkable.

He was worthy for all the historical

books that was published for him given his golden and timeless contribution to our country. He may have
lived life of thirty-five years, but he nevertheless bestows our country a new identity that was for so long
held captive and abused by the Spaniards.

After watching the movie, I have come to a conclusion that Rizal views education as a key to the
cage of slavery and oppression. For him, educated minds is the main ingredient and a pre
requisite for a triumphant revolution to happen. He abhors bloodshed and bloodbath type of
mutiny. He believes that the oppressed must not resort to being an oppressor but to be
restorers of freedom through the power of education. The dehumanization that the Spaniards
inflicted to the his fellowmen ignited the heart of perseverance of Rizal to equipped himself
with all the kinds of knowledge he could muster so that he could find a less bloody way of
restoring the humanity of Filipinos that was horribly robbed by us by the invaders. It was
undisputedly "education as liberation, violences as nonsense" type of philosophy that runs
through the mind, heart and soul of Rizal.

As a future educator, it is imperative to inculcate the values that Rizal bequeathed us. Education
must be viewed as a tool to eradicate ignorance and to illumine and ignite the minds of the
students of how important the pursuit of knowledge is. Because there is no such thing as a
neutral educational process. Education either functions as an instrument that is used to
facilitate the integration of the younger generation into the logic of the present system and
bring about conformity to it, or it becomes the practice of freedom, the means by which men
and women deal critically and creatively with reality and discover how to participate in the
transformation of their world.
