The landfill gas collection system is so designed so as to avoid over pressurization in the landfill.

The
spacing in the gas collection chambers follow the standard equilateral triangle spacing to ensure that the
radius of influence of each gas collection chamber overlaps. Gas sampling ports are then installed in
each gas collection pipe in order to monitor the quality of gas withdrawn. The necessity of gas collection
ports comes especially when the gas production rate is in its minimum. To avoid over pulling, gate valves
are installed in order to control gas withdrawal rates from the landfill.
