Dear Kip Webster:

My name is Macklin Hamilton and I am currently a student within the American Sign
Language/English Interpreter Training Program (ITP) at Eastern Kentucky University. I am writing
this cover letter as a part of the application for the Internship at NTID for Spring of 2018.

I truly believe that my skill-set and abilities will find a great fit at NTID. As a CODA (Child of Deaf
Adults), I have been learning American Sign Language since birth. I have a deep knowledge and
appreciation for the language and the culture that is rooted within it. To complement my ASL
abilities, I have learned much from the rich Interpreting courses that are provided at EKU and I
believe that the training has prepared me for the type of work I will face at NTID.

If I am accepted, I will be committed to working to the best of my abilities at NTID. I fully intend to
approach my work with a positive attitude and accept any kind of feedback/advice from my
mentors at NTID. I am committed to immersing myself within the Deaf and interpreting community
at NTID and learn all that I can about what it means to interpret at this university. I believe with full
confidence that interning at NTID will be a rich experience for myself and will highly benefit my
career long-term.

Sincerely,

Macklin Hamilton
