Education is defined as the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge,

developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or
others intellectually for mature life. In that light, education comes in many forms, and
therefore, parents are, in a way, a persons first educator.

Similar to education, the upbringing of a person has a great influence on their character and
persona. However, unlike school, the role of parents as educators starts from when their child
is born until he becomes an independent adult, and even then, a parents advice is always
valuable and cherished. While parents constant guiding and advice may seem daunting,
suffocating and even unrealistic at times, it is the parents way of showing their love and care
towards their children. In other words, parents give their children the crme de la crme or
the extract of all the lessons that they acquired from their own parents and their experience
in life, all of which to guide their children away from repeating the same mistakes that they
have committed.

Once a child becomes old enough, most parents strive towards providing their children with
the best education they could possibly afford, even if it meant sacrificing a great deal of their
energy, time and money. Furthermore, many parents pressure their children into excelling in
their academics, not out of cruelty or unkindness, but out of love and care, so that their
children will enjoy a life that is tranquil and more comfortable than theirs. By the time a
person realizes adulthood, his parents would have already sacrificed the bloom of their youth,
and an unimaginable amount of effort, for free and without expecting anything in return, all
for the sake of the happiness and well-being their children.

To conclude, Id like to quote Ernest Istook, an American politician when he said: Education
begins at home and I applaud the parents who recognize that they not someone else must
take responsibility to assure that their children are well educated.
