Pa orars SCHOLARSHIP FUND oer August 16, 2017 Dear Marisol It is my privilege to inform you that you have been selected to receive the 2017-2018 Stars Scholarship. According to the terms of this scholarship, you will receive a total of $2000.00 to be used towards tuition costs at University of Texas - E Paso for the Fall and Spring. In order to receive this scholarship, you must review and agree to the terms listed under the Acceptance and Certification of Release form that is enclosed with this letter and fill out a mandatory survey via your Stars account. Stars will request enrollment and GPA verifications at the census deadline (12th day of school) from your school ach semester. Once enrollment verifications have been received, Stars will send awards directly to your school’s Financial Aid Office (This process can take up to two weeks after the census deadline). No checks will be mailed directly to the student. Your school’s Financial Aid Office will be notified of your acceptance of this scholarship after the set deadline below and the terms in which you agreed to accept the scholarship. In some cases, your school may choose to provide the scholarship award to you prior to the census deadline. In these situations, it s important to understand that if you do not meet GPA or enrollment requirements, you will need to return those funds to your school. All scholarship, fellowship, and/or grant funds that are in excess of tuition, required fees, required books, supplies, and equipment are taxable income and must be reported to the Internal Revenue Service. We strongly urge you to retain copies of all fee statements and receipts for books, supplies, and equipment for income tax purposes. Your receiving the award is contingent upon returning the enclosed “Acceptance and Certification of Release” form by the deadline of August 23, 2017. Acceptance and Certification of Release forms not received by the due date will be considered a rejection of your scholarship offer.
