The twenty-first century will be remembered for the fast-paced technology development.

It is
indeed that development is closely related with technology. Today, technology is advancing in
all sectors which results to a great impact on the quality of life. However, the radical change and
advancement as we observe today has its adverse effects. There are ways through which
technology affects life in a negative manner. One of these things is the infamous Digital Divide.

To be frankly speaking, I never heard of this terminology up until I read the article and
understood that even when speaking digital-wise, there is still a division, a gap, and an inequity
among people. The technology gap is a social problem and actions must be planned and
integrated. How can a nation whose economy is based on services and technology progress
significantly if predominantly low-income students of color, children of single parents, and those
less educated and living in poverty has never touched nor experienced these types of
technological advancements WE have? I believe that through equity measures we can make
improvements. Step by step, we can narrow down the great divide. Together, we can close the
gaps and soon eradicate the inequity of our society.
