Definition
Anti-HBs antibodies are present in the blood in people with hepatitis B or who have received a
vaccination against this virus. Its job is to fight the HBs antigen which is present in the lining on
the surface of hepatitis B. When anti-HBs antibodies are revealed in blood tests and replace the
HBs antigen, the patient is considered cured. People who have contracted hepatitis B, even if
they're cured, cannot give their blood.
