Scenario of the ceremony step by step

1. ENTRANCE - Academics will enter the Aula Magna

with the sound of an organ. All students will stand up.
Academics will get to their seats but will remain standing.
2. ANTHEM - The Czech national anthem will play. After
itll finish, everyone can sit down as soon as the rector
do so. (Rector is in red on the right hand side of aula.)
3. BURSARY will introduce academics.
4. RECTOR will have a welcome speech for the new
students.
5, DEAN once rector finished his speech, hell hand the
word over to the dean. Hell have a similar welcome speech
and will announce the reading of the traditional matriculation
oath. At the end of it, hell ask everyone to stand up.
6. VICE DEAN: read the matriculation oath.
7- DEAN after the reading will ask If you are ready to
take this oath please do so? Hell now go down to the
mace-bearer (pedel) and takes the oath from the students.
Student will go the the maize first and symbolically
touch it, look at the dean and says I PROMISE, then
go to the dean and shake hands with him and go back
to his/her seat (remain standing!!).
After the last student takes his oath and the dean is back to
his seat everyone can sit down.
8. RECTOR will confirm that all students have taken the
oath and can now be part of Charles University. QUOD
BONUM, FELIX, FAUSTUM FORTUNATUMQUE EVENIAT.
9. ORGAN will play one of the old traditional songs and
then all academics, one by one, will leave the aula.
10. RECTOR will stand up and start walking all
academics to follow. Once all academics are gone
students are free to leave.

! During the whole ceremony is not allowed to clap,

talking with your neighbor or going to the toilet!
