About the ISIC Association


The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is administered by the ISIC
Association, an international not-for-profit association dedicated to furthering
travel opportunities for students. The ISIC Association works through the
International Student Travel Confederation (ISTC), an international not-for-profit
organization whose members collectively negotiate with airlines, governments
and providers of goods and services for the benefit of the worldwide student
community.

ISIC endorsed by UNESCO


Since 1967, the ISTC has maintained a relationship with UNESCO, the United
Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, to promote student
travel and international understanding, UNESCO officially endorses and supports
the ISIC and recognizes it as the unique document for student mobility.

Validity
In Malaysia, MSL Travel issues both the Northern & Southern validity period for
the ISIC .
The 2010 ISIC will be valid as follows:

Northern Hemisphere validity: 01 September 2009 to 31 December 2010.


The ISIC with the Northern Hemisphere validity will be issued to students whose
academic year falls within this period such as those in Britain, Europe, USA,
Canada etc. This will be issued on and after 01 September.

Southern Hemisphere validity: 01 December 2009 to 31 March 2011. The


ISIC with the Southern Hemisphere validity will be issued to students whose
academic year falls within this period such as those in Australia, New Zealand etc.
This will be issued on and after 01 December.

Depending on your Academic Year, we will issue the ISIC with either the
Northern or Southern validity periods. In the same way, the 2011 ISIC will be
issued according from 01Sep10 for Northern and 01Dec10 for Southern
Hemispheres.

MSL Travel reserves the right to issue you with the ISIC with either one of the
validity periods based on the proof of your full-time student status submitted.
How to apply
You must be a full time student at least 12 years of age to apply for ISIC. Please
complete the application form and send it to :

How to become an ISIC holder


Any FULL-TIME student can apply for the ISIC

If you are a full-time student, you are eligible to become an ISIC holder!
Simply complete the application form and either post it or take it to
your nearest MSL Travel office.

In addition to this form, the following items are required:

• Proof of your full-time student status


your local student registration card or letter on official stationary from your
college or university stating that you are a full-time student for the current
academic year. Students travelling abroad for studies, can produce their
unconditional letter of enrollment or any document confirming their
enrollment together with fees paid.
If you are a FOREIGN STUDENT studying in Malaysia, we will require a
photocopy of your:
• passport
• Student Visa
• student proof.

• ONE passport size photo (scanned photos are uncceptable)


• MYR 20.00 fee for the ISIC. Bank Drafts/Cheques/ Postal orders/Money
orders must be payable to MSL Travel Sdn Bhd
• Postal applicants must enclose a MYR 1.00 stamped self address envelope
measuring not less than 24 cm. x 11 cm.

If your application is incomplete, it will be rejected.


Please Note:

It takes only 5 minutes to issue the ISIC, If you apply for it in person
and your application is in order, you only have to wait for your turn
which only depends on how busy the office is.

If you apply by mail, how fast you get ISIC depends on the postal
services. Please ensure that you have included your:

• correctly completed application form

• proof of student status (and if you are a foreign student studying in


Malaysia, we will require photocopy of passport & student visa as well)

• one photo

• MYR 20.00 payable to MSL Travel Sdn Bhd


( do not send cash as we will not be responsible for your missing cash)

• MYR 1.00 stamped self address envelope.
