In The Bible as in Literature, you will hear tales of many people, but there is one person who

isnt highlighted as much as he should be: God. Its surprising that hes not talked about more,

considering that he is the main character of the book. If looked at closer, you can see that God is

never very jolly when it comes time for him to appear in a story. In The Bible as in Literature,

God can be shown suffering; This is true because God doesnt get the respect he deserves, Gods

creations are horrible, and God has to punish people who dont follow his rule.

To begin with, God is suffering because he never gets the respect he deserves. During The

Great Flood, God had to wipe out the whole human race because they were so disrespectful:

When the Lord saw how great was the wickedness of human beings on Earth, and how their

every thought and inclination were always wicked, he bitterly regretted that he had made

mankind on Earth. He said, I shall wipe off the face of the Earth this human race which I have

created-yes, man and beast, creeping things and birds. I regret that I ever made them (57). The

humans disrespected God to the point where Gods most viable punishment was annihilation of

their race, which shows the severity of the disrespect God receives from his creations. Disrespect

from his creations makes God suffer because his creations are all God has, and if all that he has

hates him or disregards him, God has to suffer the feeling of unimportance that comes with being

a creator. To summarize, God endures suffering in BAIL, which can be seen through The Great

Flood story.

Moreover, In BAIL God suffers because he has horrible creations. In The Golden Calf, we

see how easily Gods creations will give up on him for a piece of metal: And Aaron said to

them, Take off the rings of gold which are in the ears of your wives, sons, and daughters, and

bring them to me. And he received the gold at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool,

and made a molten calf; and they said, These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of

the land of Egypt! (135). Gods own creations completely ditch God just because they had to

wait for a while for him to finish writing the commandments, showing how bad Gods creations

are. The reason God suffers is because Gods creations are basically his children, and theyre

throwing God out and replacing him with the shiniest new thing, making God feel deserted and

jealous. Given these points, God is seen suffering in the Bible as in Literature because he has

horrible creations.

In the final analysis, God is seen suffering in BAIL because God has topunish anyone who

disobeys his example. One example of something God has to try to fix is in The Story of Cain

and Abel. After Cain kills Abel, God must punish Cain: What have you done? Your brothers

blood is crying out to me from the ground. Now you are accursed and will be banished from the

very ground which has opened its mouth to receive blood you have shed (38). God has the very

hard job of punishing anyone who has wronged according to his rules, which is hard for him to

do against people he is very close with since he created them. Generally speaking, God has to

punish his children, which is hard for a parent to do. In a word, God has endured suffering in

BAIL because he must punish his children.

All things considered, God endures suffering through BAIL, whether it be through the

disrespect he receives from his creations, the general awfulness of his creations, or how he has to

punish his creations. Many may not think about God being a victim in any of these stories, but

the truth is his creations always make life much harder for him. Its good to remember

sometimes they way you impact others, and make sure its positively, or else their life has

probably tripled in difficulty without anyone knowing.
