Duties: Attend weekly meetings with the Arabic teacher, discuss Arab culture and

Horse Handler

Duties: Horse handle during lessons for students with Down Syndrome, Cerebral
Palsy, Autism, At-Risk Youth, Multiple Sclerosis, PTSD, Developmental Delay,
Paralysis, etc.
Teach students how to groom, halter, lead, saddle/bridle, ride, and communicate
with horses
Lead the horse during lessons, assist the instructor with safety and protection of
the horse and student, assist with emergency dismounts and controlling the horse
Feed Team
Duties: Feed horses on Saturday mornings and afternoons, give hay and grain,
administer medicine to horses in need
Learn how to give proper nutrition and medicine to horses
Duties: Condition and exercise the horses in need, ride multiple times a week,
assist with training and retraining horses, ride English, Western, and bareback
styles, take notes on horses
Make sure horses are in fit condition for students, stretch tight and sore muscles,
give the horses a workout on a weekly basis to keep them healthy and fit for
lessons
Duties: Clean bowls, kennels, and litter boxes, wash towels and beds, play with cats
and dogs, write descriptions of the animals, raise awareness for the needs of
shelter animals
Learn how to take care of shelter animals and help them get adopted
2 hrs/month; 10 months/yr
Duties: Raise awareness for Batten disease, create fundraisers and events,
organize projects to raise money for Battens research
BE project, worked on raising money for testing a possible cure for Juvenile Batten
disease and other neurological diseases
