Application Support Engineer

Job Description

An exciting opportunity to work as an Application support engineer within the Application Support
team for one of the UK’s largest online organisations. Working as part of the team responsible
for delivering a challenging new project the successful candidate will play a key role in
supporting the new ecommerce platform in a large scale enterprise architecture.

Experience

An excellent technical background and understanding of web based technologies, with solid
experience delivering or supporting a large scale ecommerce implementation. The successful
candidate will be comfortable working in a high pressure and fast pace environment and have a
proactive approach to problem solving.

Day job

Working as part of the Application Support team, your day to day role will involve working as a
technical expert in the 2nd line support function and supporting the production environment. You
will be required to quickly gain understanding of new technologies ensuring they are supported in
a logical, manageable and efficient way. This role would be ideally suited for an experience
Java/C# developer looking to move into a first class IT service and operations team.

Candidate Profile

Essential skills – Must Have

 Experience of working in a Microsoft and / or Java environment at enterprise level.


 Experience working within infrastructure functions with a good understanding of Server /
Network configurations
 Solid understanding of Windows Server platform
 Solid understanding of SQL Server
 Scripting skills in one of the following VB / VBS / C# / Pearl or Java
 Understanding of web servers including IIS6 and Apache technologies
Highly Desirable Skills

 Understanding of .Net framework


 ITIL qualification
 Understanding of Linux Server platform
 Understanding of Oracle technologies
