THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Dear Parishioners,
In todays reading from the Book of
Exodus, God tells the people of Israel that
they must not molest or discriminate
against the weak members in their
society because they themselves were
once slave and strangers in Egypt. In the
Gospel, Jesus tells us that all of religion
can be summed up in the two
commandments of love love God and
love your neighbour.
If we separate these two great
commandments it is a tragedy and is
clearly contrary to the Gospel message.
When Jesus told the story of the Good
Samaritan, this was what he was talking
about. The love of God and love of
neighbour are the two sides of the same
coin they need to go like hand and
glove, like horse and carriage. Yet, so
often we separate both.
Faith and good works need to go hand in
hand. We are challenged to protect the
widow and orphan. They represent the
poor, the stranger, the migrant, the
unloved, etc. It is the test of any society,
country, or parish, as to how they
welcome the outsider. We need to
remember that all of us were once
strangers! We were welcomed into a
loving family at birth. We moved to new
areas or a new country, how were we
received? All of this will colour our
thinking.

are discriminating against the stranger.
The first reading when the Israelites
were to respect others living in their land
was soon forgotten. They remembered
to Promised Land, but then forgot about
others where did the Palestinians fit
into the picture. Today we have families
trying to join us in this country; we have
all sorts of obstacles in place. They will
take our houses, our jobs, our freedom
etc., is the cry!
We are challenged to welcome the
stranger. It costs us a price. The price is
the example of Jesus himself. We have a
lot of reflections to do on todays
readings. We have to overcome fear; we
have to extend the hand of hospitality.
We have to live the Gospel Love God,
Love our Neighbours.

VISIT TO TENNESSEE: Spending time
with my nephew and his family and
catching up with my American cousins
was tremendous. Not to speak of
visiting the Smoky Mountain. It was a
magnificent holiday.

1) Pre- Communion (age 6-7);

please take a REGISTRATION FORM from the
BLACK FOLDER on the shelf at the BACK of
the CHURCH - fill it in; attach copies of Birth
and Baptism Certificates of the child and
return as soon as possible to the Parish
Office, 4 Vincent Road.

WESTMINSTER JUSTICE AND PEACE
ANNUAL STUDY DAY
Thanks to all who attended and
participated in the Justice & Peace Annual
Study Day on Saturday and supplying
refreshments.
Your support very much appreciated.
 MONTH OF HOLY SOULS
During the month of November, we
traditionally remember relatives and
friends who have died. Please write in the
names of the deceased on the white forms
and place it in the Remembrance Book, and
place your donation for Masses for the Holy
Soul in the envelope provided in the box
next to the table. They will be prayed for
during all the Masses in the coming month.
Part of the plan is that you would attend
Mass as much as possible also, its unfair to
leave all the praying to others!!

A basket for items/goods for the Parish
Bazaar Tombola available by the pillar in
front by the Altar. We would needs bottles,
toiletries and items such as unwanted gifts
suitable for the Tombola. Also we will need
cakes for our stall. Everybody is welcome.
