Brihspati's wife Tara ran away with the moon god, Chandra,
and a child Buddh was born. Brihspati refused to do any
yagnas for the gods till his wife was returned to him.
So even though Tara came back, she came back with the child.
The furious Brihspati cursed the child to be born as
transgender.
Gods were horrified by this and Indra thus passed the
aforementioned decree.
