Psychoanalytic Feminism with The Sympathizer

Objective: Explore and discuss the representation of women in the Vietnam war and
within The Sympathizer. This will cover which groups of women are/were represented,
which groups are/were not, why these groups are/were or are/were not represented, the
relationships between the narrator and specific female characters, and the application of
psychoanalytic feminism within everyday life.

Description of Activities: The lesson will begin by handing out the term/definition
matching quiz. All of the terms will be covered within the PowerPoint, which we will go
over as a class. At the end of the PowerPoint, the group will quickly go over the
answers to the quiz.
