Geophysics and Method Geolistric

Geophysics is a science that is based on the laws of physics and mathematics to be

applied in the study of our planet. The scope geophysics are quite extensive and growing
branches of science. In general geophysics as a study model to explain the nature and
behavior of the earth and geophysics as a science that was developed for the sake of
exploration of mineral deposits that exist.
Geophysical exploration methods is the use of seismic, gravity, magnetism, geolistric
and electromagnetism to search for oil, gas, minerals, groundwater ans so on, for the
exploration and exploitation in the economic sense.
The emergence of geophysics sciencee because scientists need a tool that is good
enough to know the state of the subsurface geology.
Knowing the characteristics of the rock layers below the surface to a depth of about
300 m is very useful to know the posibility of aquifer layer is a layer of rock that is water
bearing layer. Generally sought is confined aquifer is aquifer layer sandwiched between
layers impermeable rocks ( eg a layer of silt ) on the bottom and the top. Confined this
aquifer has a recharge relatively remote, so the availability of groundwater below the point of
the drill is not affected by changes in local weather.
The geolistric can to detect mines layer having a resistivity contrast with the rock
layers on the top and bottom. It could be to determine the approximate depth bedrock to the
building foundation. Geolistric method can also be to suspect the existance of geothermal
energy ( geothermal ) below the surface. Only this method is one method of geophysical
methods to help others to know exactly where the geothermal resources below the surface.
Adventages and Disadvantages of Geolistric method.
Adventages :
1. Cheap equipment prices
2. Survey costs are relatively cheap
3. The equipment is relatively small and lightweight
4. The time required is relatively fast, can get 6-7 points in a day
Disadvantages :
1. Not effective for use in the karst region
2. To detect water can not be known how much volume debit must have the water
3. Can not distinguish between water flor and static
4. Unable to reach areas in its scope because it starts from 1000-1500 feet below the
earths surface
