Spelling Battleship Materials: 2 players, 2 pencils, 2 battleship recording sheets, two spelling lists Instructions: Each player needs one pencil, one battleship recording sheet and one spelling list. Decide who will be player 1 and player 2. Write both players names on the recording sheet, Each player will write his spelling words on the spelling list. then choose five words from the spelling list and write them on their side of the battleship recording sheet. Player 1 will name a set of coordinates (ex. At). If player 2 doesn’t have anything written in At, he will say “miss.” Player 1 will mark cell Af as a miss by putting an X in the cell. IF At is a hit, player 2 will say “hit” and say the name of the letter that he wrote in cell At, Player 1 will need to write that letter in cell A. Now it is player 2s turn. Ifat any time a player thinks he knows which word the other player has written on the recording sheet he may take his turn to guess the word. He would say "I’d like to guess one of your spelling words.” Then he would name the cells, spell and say the word, For example, player 1 may say “Af, A2, A3 and Ad spell soar, s, 0, ar.” If player 1 is correct, player 2 would say "You sunk my battleship!” The first player to sink all five battleships/spelling words is the winner.
