Pulse dialing is a signaling technology in telecommunications in which a direct current local

loop circuit is interrupted according to a defined coding system for each signal transmitted

Pulse dialing uses a number of signal pulses to indicate the phone number that was entered
whereas tone dialing uses specific tones to indicate the number.
Unlike pulse dialing which sends multiple signals or pulses for each digit, tone dialing
sends only one signal for each digit.
Pulse dialing can be mostly noted in old rotary phones with dial wheel while tone dialing
comes with phones with numeric keypads.
Tone dialing is modern and quick whereas pulse dialing is rather obsolete.
