Summary of Ch-5
This chapter is an extract from Anne Frank- The Diary of A Young Girl Anne Franks Diary records her experience during the
second world war when Germany had captured the Netherlands. In this chapter, Anne Frank Describes the day when they were
going in to hiding that is 8th July 1942. Anne Frank and her sister Margot were alone in the house. They were waiting for their
mother who had gone to Mr. Van Daans House. Mr. Van Daan s House. Mr. Van Daan was Annes Father Business partner and
a good Friend. Annes Family received a call-up notice from special security force in Germany. It was for Margot, So they
decided to go into hiding to escape from the Germans. But Margot and Anne did not know anything about the hiding place. They
Started packing the most most important belongings i.e. diary, curlers, handkerchiefs, school books, a comb and some old letters
as memories were more important to Anne than her dresses. They left their house in the evening. Mortje; The cat was the only
creature left in house. They left house in a hurry because they wanted to reach their destination in safety.

The poem is written by Lydia Maria Child. The poem give us the message that we should preserve and protect natural
world. So that young birds can grow safely and fly free. The poetess says that she would not hurt the birds even in play
because their mother birds would feel very sad if she is hurted. When the birds fly happily in the sky, they sing a song
and their songs make the poetess happy when she feels sad. So the poetess says that they should not hurt the birds so
they can grow happily
