Ade Volume 1 Ade Volume 1 I studied fine art painting between 1994-99 (first at college for 2 years then at university for 3 years). I began tattooing in 2000 and started to work professionally in the summer of 2001. From the beginning of my tattoo career I always knew that traditional Japanese tattooing held the most interest for me. I think it is the combination of the scale of the tattoos, the beauty of the forms and the complex stories that inspire me to continue with my study of horimono. My main source of inspiration comes from Horimasa 1", Kuniyoshi, Hokusai, Yoshitoshi, Horiyoshi III, Horitomo, Horitoshi, etc. I have a general interest in all the art forms of Japan from the Noh theatre to ikebana, This book is a small collection of drawings, tattoos and paintings from the last 18 months of work. They reflect my continuing exploration of the themes found in horimono. It is intended to be a source of ideas and not just flash. It is my hope that people will see my work as a starting point and begin their own exploration of the rich tradition of Japanese visual culture. I would also like to thank a few people for the help and support I have received from them. Cheesy I know, but some people deserve small thanks. In no particular order the lucky few are: Kirsty, Trudie RIP, My Parents, Jon, Nigel, Crystal, Becs, Horimasa 1*, and all my customers for their continued support. & S Sy ne wr OAS NE =] am y ee ES = Sy / ” AER \ ° ) ea . » "Re - -) on ¢ eee 4p Ba. ar Nes , Ab ye Kee Ciao — ~ oe = WSS SSS w i) ZY wy VD
